Tech Detour

Even if the universe were infinite, the concept doesn’t matter. If the universe extends for far enough, eventually it statistically will repeat itself, and there will be copies of the exact same things happening. Furthermore, it could be possible to find areas that mirror Earth and its surroundings in the past. An analogy could be a fractal which you zoom in on and it still looks the same close up, everywhere. Even if you travel to one of these other places, it isn’t really the past.
